Capital and administrative-seat notes
Conventional capitals are used for ordinary regions. Where no single capital city exists, the verified administrative seat is used and named below. Entries without a usable current seat stay flag-only.
American Samoa: Pago Pago is the conventional capital label; government functions are in neighbouring Fagatogo and Utulei.
Hong Kong: Tamar is the administrative centre, not a separate capital city.
Macau: São Lourenço is the location of Macau Government Headquarters, used as its administrative seat.
French Southern and Antarctic Lands: Saint-Pierre, Réunion is the administration headquarters outside the territory.
Bougainville: Buka is the current interim capital; Arawa is the former capital.
Montserrat: Brades is the current de facto seat; Plymouth is the former capital.
British Indian Ocean Territory: London is the official remote administration seat; local government operates from Diego Garcia.
Bonaire: Kralendijk is the municipal seat.
Saba: The Bottom is the municipal seat.
Sint Eustatius: Oranjestad is the municipal seat.
Abkhazia: Sukhumi is the de facto capital of the disputed-status administration.
South Ossetia: Tskhinvali is the de facto capital of the disputed-status administration.
Transnistria: Tiraspol is the de facto capital of the disputed-status administration.
Northern Cyprus (TRNC): North Nicosia is the seat of the disputed-status administration; Cyprus also uses Nicosia.
Western Sahara (Sahrawi Republic): Tifariti is the temporary de facto capital of the SADR; Laayoune is the claimed capital and some offices are in exile.
Flanders: Brussels is the Flemish government seat, outside the Flemish Region.
Canary Islands: The Canary Islands have two capitals, so the clue names both.
Castile and León: Valladolid is the de facto government seat; no formal capital is designated.
Basque Country: Vitoria-Gasteiz is the de facto government seat.
Trentino-South Tyrol: Trento is the regional capital; the regional assembly alternates between Trento and Bolzano.
Tokyo: Tokyo is the conventional prefectural-capital label; the metropolitan government offices are in Shinjuku.
Antarctica: Antarctica has no single government or capital.
Artsakh (historical flag): Historical Artsakh flag only; no current capital for this historical entity.
Tokelau: Tokelau has no official capital; its government meeting location rotates among the three atolls.
Sark: Sark has a traditional capital and dispersed government offices, not a verified current capital city for this quiz.
Newfoundland and Labrador: Original 2005 upload was created by Robert Crosbie and uploaded by Kooma. Entire flag redrawn/recoded from scratch by MapGrid in 2019. Colors changed by Great Brightstar in 2019.. Public domain.

How to play
Clear the board by pairing every country with the clue that belongs to it.
1Every country has one partner tile on the board: its capital, its flag, its currency or its population. Tap the two to clear them.
2A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. Shaded tiles are blocked until you uncover them.
3One puzzle a day, the same board for everyone. The clock runs while you play and pauses when you leave the tab. Rather not race? Switch to Untimed up top: you still get your streak and your grid, just no time.
4Hints and shuffles are always there, but they show up in your result grid.
